New Jersey’s 21 best restaurants of 2021. #3 Cafe Alyce, Jersey City. Offers many great food options, but brunch hasn’t always been one of them. Cafe Alyce is changing that with a unique menu blending Southern and Indian flavors. Located in the former Medical Center Luncheonette, it keeps the old neon sign as a nod to the past while updating the interior and menu. Their biscuits and gravy rank among the best, the grits bring true Southern flavor, and the aloo paratha is simply delicious.

Newly opened Cafe Alyce is a top brunch spot in Jersey City. Located in the former Medical Center Luncheonette across from The Beacon, once home to Jersey City Medical Center staff, it’s now a BYOB restaurant. Tory Aunspach, known for Bergen Lafayette’s Hooked JC and reviving JSQ Lounge, transformed the old diner into Cafe Alyce. The restaurant serves hearty, made-from-scratch meals in a casual, welcoming setting.

Cafe Alyce has taken over the former spot of Medical Center Luncheonette at 641 Montgomery Street in Jersey City. Founded by the same owners of Hooked JC, Cafe Alyce was something that has been in the works since before Hooked JC even began in 2017. Still in its soft opening stages since opening at the end of July, the new breakfast and lunch restaurant will eventually become something even bigger — and Hoboken Girl has the scoop.
